A facility for, in or adjacent a dairy milking and/or a feeding facility adapted for separating effluent solids from effluent liquid, is disclosed. The facility has an open reservoir, and is partitioned into two effluent receiving zones where each zone is able to receive effluent from the milking and/or feeding facility. A liquid outtake zone is located within the reservoir and is accessible to effluent liquid from each of the effluent receiving zones via a pair of at least substantially parallel weeping walls dedicated to the specific effluent receiving zone.
