PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tuning fork type resonator which keeps CI small by a surface longitudinal channel to improve an impact resistance particularly and controls the production of vertical oscillation additionally. SOLUTION: The tuning fork type crystal resonator includes a tuning fork shaped crystal piece 3 in which a pair of tuning fork arms 2 (ab) extend from a tuning fork base 1 in one direction, and surface longitudinal channels 5 which is located on both main surface of the tuning fork arm in the longitudinal direction. The surface longitudinal channel 5 is constructed such that the surface longitudinal channel 5 is triangle-shaped with a width direction of the tuning fork arm 2 (ab) as a bottom. The surface longitudinal channel 5 is single, the triangle is shaped with a root part of the tuning fork base being an extending edge portion of the tuning arm as a bottom, and the tip of the tuning fork arm is formed as an apex of remaining two side.
