An external device including the receiving device (200) and display device (280) further comprises: a position acquisition unit (220) for acquiring a plurality of sets of positional information pertaining to the position of the tip section (102) within the subject (900); a track generating unit (231) that generates a track of the movement of the tip section (102) within the subject (900), based on the plurality of sets of positional information; a storage unit (202) that stores a standard track; and a scale adjustment unit (233) that matches the movement track with the standard track.
