PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder device which is improved in durability and life of a welding section, and is processed in compact size and lightweight without enlarging a thickness of a hollow rod. SOLUTION: A fixing cylinder 18 for fixing the fixing end 17A side of a hollow rod 17 to a piston 15 is constructed of: a cylindrical fixing member 19 greater in a thickness of inner diameter side than the hollow rod 17; and cylindrical connecting member 20 interposed between the fixing end 17A of the hollow rod 17 and fixing member 19. The cylindrical connecting member 20 is processed to have a large diameter section greater in a thickness of inner diameter side in one side in an axial direction, and a small diameter section smaller in thickness on the other side in the axial direction. The connecting member 20 joins the large diameter side greater in thickness than the hollow rod 17 to the fixing member 19 by a spigot welding section 22, and also joins small diameter section side smaller in thickness to the fixing end 17A side of the hollow rod 17 by a butting welding section 21.
