BATTERY MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery monitoring and control system and method for monitoring and controlling a battery.

SOLUTION: A redundant and independent symmetric second serial bus in addition to a first serial bus are provided within a battery monitoring and control system including a plurality of battery monitoring modules and associated IC battery monitoring chips for serial communication with a system controller. Additionally, two serial communication pins of an operative communication interface in one of the first and the second serial buses are not directly adjacent, thereby allowing continuous battery operation even when one pin of battery monitoring modules in series becomes unable to operate. Furthermore, the battery system remains operational even when an open or short circuit occurs in either the first or second serial bus.
