<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cell which has a high energy density, can be manufactured inexpensively, and in which high voltage can be obtained over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The air cell has a positive electrode 1 which has a catalyst that reduces oxygen and into which air is supplied, a negative electrode 3 having a metal, and an electrolyte 5 interposed between the positive electrode 1 and the negative electrode 3. The metal is aluminum or aluminum-based alloy.
