PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surface-modified silica particles imparting high antifouling properties and an active energy ray-curable resin composition containing the silica particles. SOLUTION: The surface-modified silica particles are obtained when surfaces of silica particles are modified with a polyalkylsiloxane chain or a polyarylsiloxane chain and an active energy ray-polymerizable group through a silyloxy group. The silica particles are available as an additive for various coating materials and impart excellent antifouling properties to an article to which the coating materials are applied.
