PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the origin position of a rotating body without increasing the size or the manufacturing cost of an image recorder. SOLUTION: A printer unit 11 includes a conveyance roller 60 which conveys a recording sheet 50 on a conveyance path 19 in the conveyance direction 124, an LF motor 85 which imparts a driving force for rotating the conveyance roller 60, a rotary encoder 89 which detects the rotation of a conveyance roller 80, a recording head 42 which records an image on the recording sheet 50 conveyed by means of the conveyance roller 60, a carriage 41 which moves in the width direction 121 while mounting the recording head 42, a linear encoder 88 which detects the position of the carriage 41 in the width direction 121, a transmission gear 77 which rotates in synchronism with the conveyance roller 60 and has a reference portion 80, and a control unit 100 which drives the LF motor 85 by moving the carriage 41 to the end position and detects the origin position of a rotational phase of the conveyance roller 60 based on the detection results from the linear encoder 88.
