PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning apparatus for a membrane separator which can remove sufficiently a solid content deposited between membrane elements. SOLUTION: The cleaning apparatus 11 includes an insertion member 53 provided with a hollow part 70 inside, an end opening 71 injecting a cleaning liquid 55 communicating with the hollow part 70 at the end part, and also a side surface opening 72 injecting the cleaning liquid 55 communicating with the hollow part 70 at the side surface part, a supply means for supplying the cleaning liquid 55 to the hollow part 70 of the insertion member 53, and a lifting means 54 for inserting the insertion member 53 into a gap between the membrane elements 13 with the lower end part of the insertion member 53 in the lead.
