The unit has a control element e.g. rotary switch, integrated into another control element (20) e.g. push button switch, and movable relative to the latter control element. A viewing window (22) and position display units e.g. numbers (32) and arrows (33), are provided at the control elements, and indicate position of the former control element relative to the latter control element, where the latter control element includes a recess. The numbers are imprinted or stamped at periphery of the former control element in regular intervals in ascending and/or descending order.
