PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration control structure effective for controlling not only small earthquake vibration but also great earthquake vibration and for absorbing vibration energy. SOLUTION: The vibration control structure includes upper and lower rigid bodies 6, 7 for performing relatively displacing motion in the horizontal direction with earthquake vibration, wherein a first plate 8 is pivotally mounted on the lower rigid body 6 to form a first rotary friction damper part 9 and a second plate 10 is pivotally mounted on the upper rigid body 7 to form a second rotary friction damper part 11, and viscoelastic bodies 12, 12 are provided between the first and second plates 8, 10 in adhered conditions. During small-medium earthquake, the viscoelastic body 12 is subjected to shearing deformation in the horizontal direction to absorb vibration energy. During greater earthquake, the rotary friction damper parts 9, 11 absorb vibration energy and the viscoelastic body 12 is subjected to shearing deformation in the linear direction of connecting pivotal mounting parts 13, 13 to each other to absorb vibration energy.
