PURPOSE: An apparatus for searching contents and a method for searching contents are provided to predict and offer contents which a user tries to search by creating search query based on the search history, recent news article, and past news articles. CONSTITUTION: A contents management unit(420) groups the collected contents according to a theme, and creates a main subject group representing the grouped contents. The database(450) stores the main subject group. A search query management unit(430) offers the main subject group to a client. The search query management unit extracts the main subject representing the past contents information from the database and provides to the client in time order, when a search request for past contents information is received from the client.
