PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure and a method for assembling a heavy component improved in installation performance to a vehicle body. SOLUTION: The structure for assembling a heavy component includes a heater device 29, an attaching plate 31 fixed to the heater device 29, and a couple of a front side support flange 19 and a rear side support flange 27 arranged on the vehicle body side and disposed to be separated from each other, the attaching plate 31 being formed to be placed on the front side support flange 19 and the rear side support flange 27. After the heater device 29 fixed with the attaching plate 31 is raised and the front end of the attaching plate 31 is placed on the front side support flange 19, the heater device 29 is moved toward the back of the vehicle and the rear end of the attaching plate 31 is placed on the rear side support flange 27, and thereby the heater device 29 is provisionally held by the front side support flange 19 and the rear side support flange 27 of the vehicle body side.
