PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle dispersion excellent in the dispersibility of hydrophobic particles in the dispersion medium and to provide particles excellent in dispersibility in a dispersion medium. SOLUTION: What are provided are a particle dispersion comprising at least hydrophobic particles containing a (meth)acrylic resin, an acetylene glycol type surfactant adsorbed on the hydrophobic particles, and water, wherein the particle diameters of the hydrophobic particles in the state in which they contain the adsorbed acetylene glycol type surfactant and are swollen by absorbing water to a saturated state are 1.1-2 times the particle diameters in the state in which they are dry, and particles comprising at least a (meth)acrylic resin, an acetylene glycol type surfactant wherein the particle diameters of the hydrophobic particles in the state in which they are swollen by absorbing water to a saturated state are 1.1-2 times the particle diameters in the state in which they are dry.
