PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the occurrence of damage in a fixing member used in a fixing device. SOLUTION: This fixing device includes a temperature adjusting roll 100, which is set to the contact state or the non-contact state up to a pressure roll 62 according to the thermal expansion amount of the pressure roll 62 due to heat transfer from a fixing belt 61 and equalizes the temperature distribution in the axial direction of the pressure roll 62 by setting the contact state to the pressure roll 62.
