Disclosed is a novel agent for suppressing food intake. Also disclosed is an NMU derivative which has a high food intake suppressing activity when administered in a common administration manner, such as peripheral administration. Specifically disclosed is a compound represented by formula (I) or a salt thereof. In formula (I), Y represents a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence produced by introducing the substitution of 1 to 4 amino acid residues into the amino acid sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1; X represents methoxy polyethylene glycol; X' is absent or represents methoxy polyethylene glycol; and a moiety represented by formula: La-Lb-[Lc]j represents a linker.
