PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eyeglass type image display device that is easily manufactured for reducing the cost, reduces size and weight without losing appearance shapes and appearance as spectacles, and can be safely worn for a long time without imposing a burden on users. SOLUTION: The eyeglass type image display device is mounted to an eyeglass frame 1. The eyeglass type image display device includes a display element 15 displaying images, and a light guide 11 for guiding image light of the images displayed by the display element 15. At least the light guide 11 is disposed at a rim section 3 of the eyeglass frame 1 so as to be displaceable between a first position retracting from the front of one eyeball 13 of the user and a second position extending to the front of the eyeball 13 to emit image light toward the eyeball 13 while the user wears the eyeglass frame 1.
