609,680. Snap-action switches. JENNINGS, H. W. K. (First Industrial Corporation). March 20, 1946, No. 8669. [Class 38 (v)] A retractive snap-action switch of the general type set out in Specification 419,917 comprises a cantilever leaf-spring 48 having at its free end a depending arm 51 notched at 53 to engage a slot in the centre leg 56 of a trifurcated blade-snap-spring whose outer legs 57, 58 are supported, bowed under pressure, in notched lugs 45, 46 of an anchor-plate 44. Depression of the leaf-spring 48 by a plunger 16 moves the leg 56 of the snap-spring over dead-centre so that its free-end carrying the contact 61 snaps down to engage a fixed contact 37. To form a normally closed switch the outer legs 57, 58 are supported by depending arms on the leaf-spring 48, and the centre leg 56 held by a lug on the anchor plate. The springs may be of beryllium or copper. |
