<p>Disclosed is an invention that can reduce the quantity of smoke produced in a heating system that causes combustion of a fuel added to the exhaust gas flowing through an exhaust passage when heating of the exhaust gas purification catalyst is needed. When it is necessary to heat an exhaust gas purification catalyst (4), bypass control is executed to cause exhaust gas that has bypassed a turbine (6b) via a bypass passage (7) to flow into the exhaust gas purification catalyst (4), fuel is added to the exhaust gas exiting from the turbine (6b) at a fuel addition valve (9), and fuel ignition control is executed to ignite the added fuel at a glow plug (10).</p> |
