<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine whether a pick-up image indicates a vehicle-light or not. <P>SOLUTION: An area extracting portion 22 extracts a high-brightness area from a picked up front image. A pair candidate searching portion 24 searches a vehicle light-pair candidate from the extracted high-brightness area. A distance estimating portion 26 estimates a distance to a vehicle light-pair indicated by the vehicle-light pair candidate. A light receiving amount estimating portion 28 carries out interpolation on the basis of a brightness value of peripheral pixels about a saturation area of the vehicle light-pair candidate, thereby estimating a light receiving amount in the high-brightness area of the vehicle-light pair candidate after correcting the brightness value. A vehicle-light determining portion 30 determines whether the pick-up image indicates the vehicle-light pair or not on the basis of the light receiving amount in the high-brightness area of the estimated vehicle-light pair candidate, the distance to the vehicle-light pair indicated by the vehicle-light pair candidate, and the brightness of the vehicle-light obtained in advance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
