<p>A method for constructing a soak away, e.g. for rain water, has a vertical bore hole of selected diameter and depth and filled with a granular filling of coarse and fine matter, e.g. stone and sand. The diameter and depth of the bore hole is selected to match the rate of draining to the ability of the surrounding strata to take the water. The upper part of the bore hole is left unfilled to provide a reservoir to take sudden rainfall.</p> |
