PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the contact pressure on the slidable contact surfaces of a rotor and a housing in a cam phase variable device. SOLUTION: This cam phase variable device 20 includes a housing 22 which is rotated in synchronism with a crankshaft 5 and in which a plurality of vane chambers 61-63 are formed on the inner peripheral side, a rotor 21 which is rotated together with a camshaft 9 and on which vanes 32, 33, 34 dividing a plurality of vane chambers into spark-advance side oil chambers 61A, 62A, 63A and spark-retard angle side oil chambers 61B, 62B, 63B are vertically installed on the outer peripheral side, oil holes 32a, 33a, 34a which are formed in the respective vanes generally parallel to the rotating axis of the rotor and at least one ends of which are opened in the slidable contact surfaces of the rotor and the housing, and oil pressure supply means 91-101 for simultaneously supplying a hydraulic pressure to the oil holes. By simultaneously supplying the oil pressure to the oil holes, a pressing force in the generally same direction is applied to the corresponding vanes. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
