<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the tone or quality of a sound reproduced by an electric signal converted by a piezoelectric element. <P>SOLUTION: A conversion device 22 is mounted to a body 16 of a stringed instrument 10 and provided so that the vibration of a chord 11 can be converted to an electric signal. The conversion device 22 includes an adhesive layer 24 adhered to a reinforcing member 20 of the body 16, an intermediate layer 25 formed in a middle in the thickness direction of the adhesive layer 24, and a piezoelectric element 27 attached to the lower surface of the adhesive layer 24 through a metal plate 26. The intermediate layer 25 is formed of a material different from that of the adhesive layer 24 or wood, and the adhesive layer 24 is formed of butyl rubber.
