PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for improving production efficiency in image formation on an image forming medium. SOLUTION: A printer 3 provided with a line head part 11 where a plurality of nozzles 10a for forming an image are formed in the maximum printable range in the direction of paper width perpendicular to the direction of paper conveyance, includes: a temperature sensor 13 that, when an image is formed on paper having a width narrower than the maximum printable range, measures the temperature of a head 10 that has a nozzle group for forming the image on the paper; a temperature determining section 4b that determines whether the temperature of the head 10 is equal to or above a stop reference temperature; and a printing control section 4a where, when the temperature is equal to or above the stop reference temperature, the nozzle group for forming the image on the paper is changed and then the image is formed on the paper.
