The device has an upper storage area (2) and a lower storage area (3) separated from each other by a horizontal partition wall (9), where the lower storage area exhibits extendable drawers (5, 6). A light source is integrated into the partition wall for illuminating the extendable drawers. A storage carrier (18) is placed at a front edge of the partition wall and illuminated by the light source. The storage carrier is illuminated from behind by a light conductor, and the light source is designed as an LED. The lower storage area is designed as a cold-storage compartment.
