[Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A closure, cap for canisters of cardboard or the like (see Group XVII) is formed by stamping a circular blank of sheet metal to form a domed top 1, a skirt 4, and a peripheral flange 5, Fig. 1, lapping the skirt back upon itself to form a skirt of double thickness 4, 7, Fig. 2, spinning the lower edge of the skirt inwardly as at 8, and rolling the flange 5 wholly round to form the closed beading 9, Fig. 3. The cap may be perforated as at 2, and an internal or external cardboard &c. closure disc 6 fitted by means of the pronged edges of the perforations. |
