The mandrel (10) has a cylindrical rigid envelope (12) made of composite material, where ends of the envelope is closed by two metal flanges (14) to form a sealed enclosure. A radial cylinder is integrated with the envelope. The cylinder comprises a piston that takes two retracted and projecting positions under the effect of pressurized air introduced in the envelope. One end of the piston carries a claw. The cylinder includes a body that receives the piston with a stop ring and an elastic return unit i.e. spring, arranged between the piston and the ring.
