<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that it takes a long time to increase the number of revolutions for dehydration even when a rotary drum of a rotary drum type washing machine does not strongly vibrate and it can be increased to the predetermined maximum number of revolutions, because the number of revolutions of the rotary drum are controlled to gradually increase, and that a number of revolutions for dehydration suitable for vibration can not be achieved because vibrations of the drum are detected by current values of a motor or the like and the detection accuracy is deteriorated by variations in motor characteristics or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The washing machine is provided with: an acceleration detecting means 15 which can detect triaxial acceleration and is attached to a water receiving tub including the rotary drum or to the washing machine body; and a drum revolution detecting means which detects the number of revolutions of the rotary drum. In this manner, since the amplitude of vibration of the rotary drum can be accurately detected when the speed is increased during revolution for dehydration, vibrations can be reduced and the number of revolutions for dehydration can be increased in a short time.
