Disclosed is a flexible bone composite comprising: (a) a first resorbable polymeric layer comprising a synthetic resorbable polymer (such as a polymer which comprises repeat units selected from the group consisting of L-lactic acid, D-lactic acid, L-lactide, D-lactide, D,L-lactide, glycolide, a lactone, a lactam, e-caprolactone, trimethylene carbonate, a cyclic carbonate, a cyclic ether, para-dioxanone, beta-hydroxybutyric acid, beta-hydroxypropionic acid, beta-hydroxyvaleric acid, and a combination thereof) and having a first side and a second side; (b) a first calcium-containing layer (which comprises a material such as a calcium phosphate, a calcium sulphate, a calcium carbonate, or any combination thereof) attached chemically, physically, or both to the first side of the polymeric layer; and (c) a second calcium-containing layer attached chemically, physically, or both to the second side of the polymeric layer.
