PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully reduce a stringy noise and obtain a high-quality image while preventing color shift due to skew between each colors by skew correction.

SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a pattern matching section 211 in which densities of a pixel of interest and pixels around the pixel of interest are calculated when the pixel of interest of correction target is at a division position in the main scanning direction based on pixels of an image data which underwent the skew correction, and generation of density deviation is detected based on the calculated densities, a sift direction due to the skew correction, and a predetermined pattern; and a dither correction output section 221 in which density correction of the image data is performed based on the detected density deviation when the generation of density deviation is detected.
