摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device for properly detecting a paper medium longer than the path length of an inversion path before the front end of the paper medium reaches a selection part of a reading path with respect to the paper medium being delivered from a storage part to a conveyance path. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This image reading device consists of a separating part separating the paper medium in the storage part and delivering it to the conveyance path, a co-rotated roller arranged at a position wherein the distance to the branch point of the reading path is longer than the path length of the inversion path, which is contacted with the paper medium in the storage part and submissively rotated when the paper medium is delivered by the separating part, a roller rotational amount detecting part detecting the rotational amount of the co-rotated roller, a paper length determining part determining the length of the paper medium in the conveying direction based on the rotational amount from the start of delivery of the paper medium by the separating part, and a conveyance control part controlling the conveyance of the paper medium based on the determination result of the length.
