<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver capable of removing noise from input light including noise components, and to provide a method of removing noise light. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receiver 10 includes: a polarization control means 11 for performing control so that the polarization plane of the input light is aligned to a first predetermined polarization plane (vertical polarization plane); a light composition means 12 for generating composite light obtained by compositing the input light controlled by the polarization control means 11 and local light; a polarization separation means 13 for separating the composite light into a first light signal having the vertical polarization plane and a second light signal having a second polarization plane (horizontal polarization plane) differing from the vertical polarization plane; and a noise removal means 14 for removing the noise light included in the first light signal by the second light signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
