PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a projector easily setting the installation place condition of a device to a suitable condition. SOLUTION: The display device and the projector include: a remote control signal reception means for receiving remote control signals to control peripheral equipment to be controlled; a remote control signal learning means for learning the received remote control signals; and a remote control signal transmission means for transmitting the learned remote control signals to the peripheral equipment as a reception destination at a timing when power of the display device is turned on or when power is turned off.
