PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll which sucks a liquid absorbed in a roll portion quickly and uniformly and discharges out of the roll, retains the rotation balance of the roll, is capable of removing, squeezing and washing away a liquid uniformly from a surface to be cleaned over a long period and has excellent durability, and a cleaning apparatus mounted with the roll. SOLUTION: The roll includes the roll portion and a pedestal, and the pedestal has a body having an opening and joint portions A and B connected to both ends of the body. The joint portions A and B have a hollow part, and the hollow parts communicate with the opening. In the vicinity of joined portions between the hollow parts and the joint portions A and B, a gradually changing part is formed so that the open area of the opening is smaller than the open area of the nearly central part of the body. A fluid introduction groove is formed in the outer periphery of the body, and a hole communicating with the opening and the roll portion are formed in the fluid introduction groove.
