A device for enabling access to a rotor blade (4) of a wind turbine (2) by lowering and lifting the device in relation to the wind turbine (2) is disclosed. The device has a frame (104, 106, 108, 112, 134) supported by cable from the top of the wind turbine (2). The frame may be open or be able to be opened to surround the blade (4) of the turbine (2). The frame is held in position with respect to the blade (4) by a pair rollers (116, 118) at each edge of the blade (4), defining a 'V' shape that is pressed to the edge so that as the device ascends or climbs the changing contour of the blade (4) is accommodated. A gondola or other platform is connected to a track on the frame and is able to transport personnel around the frame so as to reach any part of the blade for maintenance. |
