A magnetic disc device has a mechanism for loading/unloading a slider, which has a magnetic head, on/from a magnetic disc. In the magnetic disc device, a load zone is arranged on an outer circumference section of the magnetic disc. In the load zone, many grooves, each of which has a shape opened to a rotating direction of the magnetic disc, are formed in the circumference direction of the magnetic disc. Thus, in the load zone, positive pressure is generated on the section narrowest between the slider and the magnetic disc, and the slider and the magnetic disc are prevented from being brought into contact with each other when the slider is loaded.
