<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material with such an advantage that color development sensitivity is high and the reduction of recording density caused by heat, humidity, light, and a plasticizer is extremely slight even under severe use conditions. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal recording material has a thermal recording layer containing a colorless or pale-color dye precursor compound which is colored by heat on a support. The recording material contains at least one of special dye precursor compounds as the dye precursor compound. Furthermore, the thermal recording layer contains an oxidant.
