PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technologies with which a wireless communication device (WCD) can efficiently receive call/broadcast paging messages from base stations. SOLUTION: Responsive to wake-up (502) from sleep, a WCD detects (509) received signal quality. The WCD also receives (510) scheduled network transmission of a call-paging message and the number of instances of a repeating network transmitted broadcast-paging message that occurs multiple times for each scheduled transmission of the call-paging message.
