SEALED BATTERY, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable sealed battery including a current interruption mechanism and provided with a connection terminal of a structure making difficult intrusion of an electrolyte and a cleaning liquid into the current interruption mechanism upon manufacture.

SOLUTION: The sealed battery includes a sealing plate 13 sealing an opening of an exterior can, and an external terminal 16 with the connection terminal 23 attached to the sealing plate 13. The current interruption mechanism 18 for cutting off a current responding to pressure rising in the exterior can is provided in a conductive path for electrically connecting the connection terminal 23 with an electrode body. A through-hole 23b communicating with a space in the current interruption mechanism 18 on the side corresponding to the outer side of the battery is formed in the connection terminal 23 and is sealed with a terminal stopper 30 of an elastic material so as to define a sealed space between it and the current interruption mechanism 18.
