<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with the problem that an approximation computation processing apparatus, approximate wavelet coefficient computation processing apparatus and approximate wavelet coefficient computation processing are desired to determine an approximate value of an analytic value (wavelet coefficient) within a predetermined error range even if the number of received data items is equal to or more than a threshold (n). Ž<P>SOLUTION: Each time the number of data items in a received data stream exceeds an integer (l), a parallel computation starting position monitoring section 201 designates a starting position of data to determine a compressed reception data stream and for each data stream constituted of data items on and following each designated starting point, a reception data transforming section 110 generates the compressed reception data stream by performing dimensional compression through random projections, respectively. When the number of data items in the data stream transformed to wavelet processing target stream data reaches an integer (n), a wavelet computation target switching section 203 defines any one of a plurality of compressed reception data streams as wavelet processing target stream data and calculates an approximate value of a wavelet coefficient.
