<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device which prevents run of a transfer belt on a flange and waviness of the transfer belt, secures durability of the transfer belt, and prevents poor color matching of each color by surface speed fluctuation of the transfer belt caused by the run of the transfer belt, and capable of obtaining a successful image, and to provide an image forming apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the transfer device having an endless belt on the outer surface of which a non-image area is formed other than an image area and at least a pair of rollers around which the belt is wound to be supported, an elastomer 102 is stuck to and pressed against a part around which a roller 42 which supports the belt is wound in the non-image area of the endless belt 40.
