<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information in accordance with user's taste. <P>SOLUTION: In this information provision system, a book information management server 37 acquires a book ID from a non-contact IC tag 33 through a non-contact IC chip 32 every prescribed time to manage a book inside a library. When a non-contact IC card 31 is made to be close to a non-contact IC chip 32-1 installed to a bookshelf inside a book store by a user, the non-contact IC chip 32-1 acquires a user ID from the non-contact IC card 31, and transmits it to a customer information management server 38 together with a genre ID. Thereafter, when the non-contact IC card 31 is made to be close to a display device 34, the customer information management server 38 acquires book information corresponding to the genre ID from the book information management server 37, reads customer information, and produces recommendation information on the basis thereof. The display device 34 displays an image based on the recommendation information.
