<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing apparatus that more fine view angle adjustment is available even if the image capturing apparatus selects a focus distance only at digital levels, a zoom control method and zoom control programs. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image capturing apparatus allows a user to select either of a middle-speed zoom mode, a high-speed zoom mode and a low-speed zoom mode. In the high-speed and low-speed zoom modes, an optical zoom and an electronic zoom are integrally operated. In a second zoom section of the low-speed zoom mode, magnification is changed using the electronic zoom means and the optical zoom means so that the increasing or decreasing direction of magnification through the electronic zoom and that through the optical zoom are opposite each other.
