BACKING PAPER FOR WALLPAPER

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backing paper for wallpaper having good operability in producing the backing paper for wallpaper, generating little scuffing in applying a polyvinyl chloride paste and the like or in a subsequent gelling process, having a moderate paper strength and forming little blister-like surface roughening. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The backing paper is used for producing a wallpaper by applying a decorative layer on one surface of the backing paper. The backing paper is produced by applying or impregnating a coating liquid containing a binder and a nonionic surfactant to a base paper containing at least a wood pulp, and content of the nonionic surfactant in the backing paper is ≥0.02 mass% and <2.0 mass%. The nonionic surfactant is preferably a (poly)oxyethylene-glycerol ether added with 1-7 mol of ethylene oxide to glycerol on an average. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
