PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition developing high gas barrier properties in a wide range of curing conditions besides excellent performances which an epoxy resin essentially has and a coating, an adhesive, etc. obtained from the composition. SOLUTION: The gas barrier resin composition comprises an epoxy resin, an epoxy resin curing agent and a curing promoter. The curing promoter is a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein R is 5-15C alkyl) or its amine salt and the content of a skeleton structure represented by formula (2) in a cured product formed from the resin composition is≥30 wt.%.
