<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve bright and easy-to-view image display gentle to eyes. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the projection device, light beams from a red light source, a blue light source and a green light source are synthesized by a synthesizing optical element, made to pass through an optical modulation optical element to be modulated, and projected to a screen by a projection optical system. A distance from the green light source to the synthesizing optical element is made the shortest in comparison with distances from the red and blue light sources to the synthesizing optical element.
