<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of effectively prompting a user to update a program. <P>SOLUTION: A print setting screen is displayed on a display (S1310). Whether the name of a function to be updated is displayed or not is determined (S1320). When the function name is displayed (YES in S1320), a mark "!" is attached to the vicinity of the function name (S1330) to end the processing. A user knows that the function with the mark "!" is the target function which is influenced by the updating of a printer driver.
