PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve binding processing corresponding to a thickness of a sheet bundle with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This sheet binding device 100 is provided for binding the sheet bundle by forming irregularities in the thickness direction in the sheet bundle, and has a pair of tooth-shaped members 1 and 2 movably arranged in the thickness direction of the sheet bundle and forming the irregularities in the thickness direction by sandwiching the sheet bundle, and a pressing force applying mechanism for applying pressing force to the pair of tooth-shaped members 1 and 2 for binding the sheet bundle by forming the irregularities. The pressing force applying mechanism increases the pressing force applied to the pair of tooth-shaped members 1 and 2 as a thickness of the binding sheet bundle becomes thick.
