PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce useless communication about a current position of a specified vehicle, in a vehicle position communication system for transmitting sequentially the current position of the specified vehicle, and for displaying the current position on a specified display. SOLUTION: The vehicle position communication method/system transmits the current position of the specified vehicle from an onboard device to a cellular phone, at a transmission interval in response to a scale of a map data displayed on the cellular phone. The transmission interval is a transmission interval to bring an interval between this time display position of the current position of the specified vehicle and the last display position thereof into 0.5 cm, when the specified vehicle travels at 60 km/hr of speed.
