<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification method for efficiently removing a sterol glycoside contained as a minor impurity in a fatty acid alkyl ester. <P>SOLUTION: The purification method of a fatty acid alkyl ester comprises a step 1 of adding at least one surfactant, selected from among an anionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant, and water to a crude fatty acid alkyl ester and subsequently agitation-mixing them to obtain a mixture containing aggregates; and a step 2 of separating the aggregates from the mixture obtained in the step 1 to obtain the fatty acid alkyl ester having at least 60% of the sterol glycoside removed therefrom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
